The correct answer is

D, B, A, C

Intension means the set of defining attributes (qualities) a term connotes. The more specific a term, the more attributes it packs in, so increasing intension means going from the most general (fewest attributes) to the most specific (most attributes). Note this is the reverse of increasing extension (number of members).

Rank the four terms by how much they specify:
• Athlete — broadest; any sportsperson, very few defining marks.
• Ball player — an athlete restricted to ball games; adds the attribute of playing with a ball.
• Baseball player — a ball player restricted to one sport, baseball; adds more attributes.
• Fielder — a baseball player in a particular defensive role; adds the most attributes, so it is the narrowest and richest in intension.

Therefore increasing intension runs: Athlete, then Ball player, then Baseball player, then Fielder.

The correct order is Athlete, Ball player, Baseball player, Fielder. Orderings that place Baseball player before Ball player, or that start with Fielder, reverse the general-to-specific direction and confuse intension with extension.
