According to the latest Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) by NSSO for 2022–23, India's poverty rate has declined to below 5%, as stated by NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam.
The survey indicates that per capita monthly household expenditure has more than doubled since 2011–12, reflecting increased prosperity in both rural and urban areas.
