Question

A crane lifts a 200 kg load to a height of 15 meters in 10 seconds. Assuming

acceleration due to gravity is 10 m/s² and energy loss is negligible, what is the power

output of the crane during this operation?

RRB NTPC 2025 Graduate Level CBT 1 Question Paper (25-Mar-2026) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

3000 W

The useful work done by the crane equals the gain in gravitational potential energy of the load, given by \(W = mgh\).

Substituting the values, \(W = 200 \times 10 \times 15 = 30000\ \text{J}\).

Power is the rate of doing work, \(P = \frac{W}{t}\), where the time taken is 10 seconds.

So \(P = \frac{30000}{10} = 3000\ \text{W}\).

Hence, the answer is 3000 W.
