Question

A 30-litre mixture of oil and kerosene contains oil and kerosene in the ratio 2:1. Some quantity of kerosene is added, changing the ratio to 1:2. What is the quantity of kerosene added?

This question was previously asked in
SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 Question Paper (25-Sep-2025) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

30 L

In 30 litres with ratio 2:1, oil \(= 20\) L and kerosene \(= 10\) L. Since oil stays fixed and the new ratio is 1:2, new kerosene \(= 2 \times 20 = 40\) L. Kerosene added \(= 40 - 10 = 30\) L.
