Revised Timeline for Completion
- The project, originally scheduled for 2019, faced delays due to natural calamities, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other challenges.
- New Commissioning Date: December 2024
- Phase Completion: By 2028 for subsequent phases
- Penalty Clause: Delays beyond 2028 will trigger penalties and fund recovery measures.
Arbitration and Penalty Waiver
- The Kerala government has withdrawn arbitration proceedings and waived a ₹219 crore penalty previously claimed for delays.
- The waiver facilitates smooth negotiations, ensuring timely project execution.
- Payments to Adani Group will be withheld until the project achieves its milestones.
Revenue Sharing Adjustments
- The government’s share of revenue will now commence in 2034, maintaining the original 15-year term from 2019, when operations were initially planned to start.
