About Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP)

• The Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP) is a high-level, instructor-led military exercise focused on enhancing interoperability and combat tactics. It involves the Indian Air Force (IAF) along with the Egyptian Air Force (EAF), Jordanian Air Force, and the Hellenic Air Force of Greece.
• Participants: The exercise involves four countries – India, Egypt, Jordan, and Greece. The IAF contingent includes SU-30MKI fighter jets, and personnel from the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE).
• Objective: The primary goal of TLP is to improve interoperability between different air forces, and share best practices in air combat, especially in large force engagements and multi-aircraft missions.
• Mission Scope: IAF pilots hone their skills in complex day and night combat scenarios, including air-to-air and air-to-ground operations, flying alongside aircraft such as Egyptian F-16s, Rafale, Mig-29, and Greek F-16s.
• Historical Context: India and Egypt have a long-standing defense cooperation, dating back to the 1960s, with collaborative efforts such as the test flight of the Helwan HA-300 by IAF pilots.
