• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the field evaluation trials of the Nag Mark 2 anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM).

About Nag Missile

• Development: The Nag Mk-2 is a third-generation anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).

• Purpose: Designed to target and destroy enemy tanks, armored vehicles, and fortifications in battlefield scenarios, enhancing India's defense capabilities.
• Range: The missile has a range between 3 to 5 kilometers, depending on the specific variant.
• Warhead: Equipped with a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead, capable of penetrating advanced tank armor to neutralize enemy armored targets effectively.
• Guidance System: Utilizes infrared imaging (IIR) homing, allowing the missile to engage targets both in day and night conditions with high accuracy.
• Launch Platforms: The Nag Mk-2 can be launched from a variety of platforms, including ground vehicles, helicopters, and portable launchers, ensuring flexibility in deployment.
• Indigenous Capability: The Nag Mk-2 significantly boosts India's indigenous missile capabilities, reducing dependence on foreign ATGM systems and enhancing self-reliance in defense technology.
