About IMEC

The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) is a strategic initiative designed to enhance economic integration between India, the Middle East, and Europe.

• Announced: IMEC was introduced during the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023.
• Alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI): The corridor offers a viable trade route alternative to China’s BRI, boosting global supply chain resilience.
• Countries Involved: India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, and European nations.

IMEC: Key Corridors and Connectivity

IMEC is divided into two main corridors:

1. Eastern Corridor: Connects India (Mumbai, Mundra ports) to the UAE.
2. Northern Corridor: Links the Gulf region to Europe via Israel and Greece, incorporating key ports such as:
   • Saudi Arabia: Dammam, Ras Al Khair
