IBPS Clerk Vacancy 2026 is allocated State/UT-wise and category-wise under SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and UR categories. The revised distribution gives candidates a clearer view of the vacancies available for their selected State/UT and category.

| Total | 1,936 | 962 | 2,863 | 1,024 | 4,878 | 11,663 |
The revised category-wise figures total 1,936 SC, 962 ST, 2,863 OBC (NCL), 1,024 EWS and 4,878 UR vacancies. The category figures are included within the State/UT-wise vacancy distribution and should not be added again to the State totals.
IBPS Clerk Vacancy 2026 varies across States and UTs because vacancies are reported separately according to the requirements of participating banks. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of revised vacancies at 1,752, followed by Karnataka with 1,458 and Maharashtra with 1,062.
The latest update also shows that the 260 additional vacancies are not distributed uniformly across States. The increase is reflected only where Bank of Baroda has reported additional requirements. Therefore, candidates should refer to the revised State/UT-wise table rather than applying the 260-post increase equally across all regions.
IBPS Clerk Vacancy 2026 includes reserved and unreserved vacancies under five main categories. The revised category-wise distribution is given below.
| Category | Revised Vacancies |
|---|---|
| SC | 1,936 |
| ST | 962 |
| OBC (NCL) | 2,863 |
| EWS | 1,024 |
| UR | 4,878 |
| Total | 11,663 |
The category-wise vacancy figures are indicative and are part of the overall State/UT-wise distribution. Candidates claiming reservation must fulfil the category-specific eligibility and certificate requirements prescribed in the CRP CSA-XVI notification.
IBPS Clerk vacancies can be revised because the numbers published in the notification are indicative. The participating banks can report additional requirements or changes in their vacancies, after which IBPS may issue an updated vacancy list. This has also happened in the previous IBPS Clerk cycle. In CRP CSA-XV, the vacancy count changed through subsequent corrigenda, showing that the initial vacancy figure should not always be treated as the final number available at provisional allotment. For CRP CSA-XVI, the September 29 update is the latest vacancy revision and has already increased the reported total by 260 posts.
Candidates should therefore use 11,663 as the latest reported vacancy figure while referring to the updated Annexure I for State/UT and category-specific details. The final allotment will depend on the actual vacancies reported by participating banks.
Ques: Does the revised IBPS Clerk vacancy change the exam pattern?
Ans: No. The September 29 vacancy update concerns the reported vacancies. It does not change the Prelims or Mains exam pattern prescribed for CRP CSA-XVI.
Ques: Can candidates change their State/UT after the vacancy revision?
Ans: No. The vacancy revision does not reopen the application process or provide a fresh opportunity to change the State/UT selected in the application form. The CRP CSA-XVI registration window has already closed.
Ques: Does a higher IBPS Clerk vacancy guarantee selection?
Ans: No. Selection and provisional allotment depend on the prescribed selection process, State/UT-wise and category-wise merit, actual vacancies and other applicable conditions. The revised vacancy figure itself does not guarantee allotment.
Ques: Are PwBD and Ex-Servicemen vacancies included in the 11,663 total?
Ans: Yes. Horizontal reservation categories such as PwBD and Ex-Servicemen are accounted for within the relevant SC, ST, OBC, EWS and UR vacancies and should not be added separately to the total.
Ques: What happens if participating banks report more IBPS Clerk vacancies later?
Ans: IBPS may issue another vacancy update or corrigendum if participating banks report changes. The notification provides that provisional allotment is based on the actual vacancies reported by participating banks, so the vacancy position can change before the allotment stage.
