CTET Cutoff 2020: CBSE will release the cutoff of CTET July 2020 in the month of July 2020. Candidates will have to visit the official portal-ctet.nic.in to check the category-wise cutoff. 

  • The cutoff is released along with the declaration of CTET Result 2020.  
  • The qualifying marks for general/ EWS category is 90 and 82.5 for OBC/ SC/ ST categories.
  • In the CTET December 2019 session, 5,42,285 lakh candidates have qualified the exam. 
  • Candidates qualifying the exam by scoring the required marks will be issued CTET Eligibility Certificate.
  • The recruiter schools may give some relaxation in the cutoffs to fill the tentative vacancies.

CTET Eligibility Certificate 2020

  • Candidates qualified in CTET exam are awarded an Eligibility Certificate. 
  • CTET qualifying certificate is valid for seven years from the date of result declaration for all categories.
  • This means that candidates can apply for the posts of teachers till 7 years from the date of declaration of the result of CTET.

Number of Attempts in CTET

  • Candidates can take CTET as many times as they want to obtain a CTET Certificate.
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts in the test.
  • Not only this, candidates who have qualified the exam may also appear again for improving their score.

CTET Cutoff - Qualifying Marks and Qualifying Certificate

  • Candidates qualifying CTET will be given Marks Statement post the result declaration.
  • Only those candidates will be issued Eligibility Certificate/Qualifying Certificate/Marks Statement who secure at least 60% marks in CTET exam.
  • This statement is also called the CTET qualifying certificate which is the document to prove the validity of any candidate whether they have qualified the exam or not.
  • Qualifying CTET does not mean that a person has qualified to be recruited/ employed.
  • Qualifying CTET means that the candidate has just met one of the eligibility criteria for an appointment.
  • School Management (Government, Local bodies, Government aided and unaided) may give concessions to SC/ ST/ OBC, differently-abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy.

Where can CTET Qualifiers apply?

CTET qualified candidates can apply at

  • schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.
  • at unaided private schools which may consider teachers on the basis of CTET scores.
  • A State Government can also consider CTET scores for the recruitment of teachers if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
  • According to CBSE Affiliation Bye-Law 53, prescribing the minimum qualifications for teachers to teach various subjects in Classes I to VIII in the schools affiliated to CBSE stands amended to that extent and it shall be mandatory that the teachers appointed hereinafter i.e. March 6, 2012, to teach classes I to VIII in the Schools affiliated to the CBSE shall qualify/pass the Central Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by CBSE on behalf of Central Government or Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), conducted by the appropriate State Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE for this purpose.

Hi Rahul, sorry but you have not qualified this exam as candidates who have scored more than 81 marks will be considered qualified only.

Hi Sakshi, to qualify this exam, candidate needs to score at least 60% (for general category) of the maximum marks obtainable and 50% for OBC category.

Dear Shobhna, I am waiting for your kind reply on my previous comment with regards to the passing eligibility in CTET exam for candidates who have scored less than 90 marks but the merit list covers that marks? In this case would the candidate be eligible for the job vacancies in CTET ?
