CTET Exam Pattern 2020: The national level exam is divided into 2 levels or papers. Paper I is for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper II is for candidates who wish to teach classes 6 to 8. In case candidates wish to qualify to teach classes 1 – 8, they can appear for both the papers in CTET.

Both Paper I & II contain a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. 1 mark is awarded to correct answers and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The paper is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. ​Paper 1 consists of 5 sections while Paper 2 consists of 4 sections. CTET 2020 Syllabus

CTET Syllabus 2020

CTET Syllabus 2020 is defined by CBSE. There have been no changes in the syllabus over the years. Paper 1 comprises 5 sections namely, Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 has four sections namely Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies. Read Complete CTET Syllabus 2020

  • Paper 1 is for primary school teaching, therefore; the level of questions is related to class 1- 5.
  • Similarly, paper 2 is conducted for elementary school teaching, hence, questions are of class 6- 8 level.

CTET 2020 OMR Sheet

Use of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheet

There are a certain set of instructions which must be followed while handling the (Optical Mark Recognition) OMR Sheet. Candidates must abide by the given instructions and follow the rules stated regarding OMR Sheet while attempting CTET 2020. Given below are a few facts and guidelines related to it:

  • Candidates will find OMR Sheet placed inside a sealed test booklet. The seal must be opened only after the announcement by the invigilator.
  • Code like A, B, C or D printed on OMR sheet will be the same as mentioned in the test booklet.
  • OMR Sheet will be scanned on an optical scanner. Candidates should ensure that OMR Sheet is not folded.
  • Do not write your Roll number anywhere except in a specified space in OMR sheet.

Side 1 of OMR sheet contains the following columns which are to be filled clearly and accurately with a ballpoint pen (blue/black). The use of pencil is strictly prohibited.

  1. Roll Number
  2. Name of the candidate
  3. Father’s Name
  4. Centre Number
  5. Name of the Examination Centre
  6. Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)

Side 2 of OMR Sheet contains the following columns:

  1. Roll Number
  2. Main Test Booklet Number
  3. Language Supplement Booklet Number
  4. Language Supplement Booklet Code
  5. Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)
  6. Language in which you have attempted the questions
  7. Signature of the candidate

Exam Day Guidelines

CTET 2020 Exam Day Instructions

Guidelines that have to be followed during CTET examination 2020 are listed below. Candidates must carefully go through them before sitting for CTET 2020:

  • The test will start exactly at the time mentioned on CTET 2020 Admit Card.
  • The candidate will be asked to open the seal of the Test Booklet five minutes before the commencement of the paper.
  • Check carefully that the Test Booklet Code printed on Side 2 of OMR Sheet is the same as printed on Test Booklet.
  • Immediately report the matter to the invigilator for replacement of both the Test Booklet and OMR Sheet in the case of any discrepancy.
  • During the examination, the invigilator will check the admit card to verify the identity of a candidate.
  • Candidates must use a ballpoint pen (Blue/Black) only. The use of pencil is strictly prohibited and will be rejected.
  • Candidates will mark the answers on the OMR sheet only after the announcement of the invigilator.

Hi Dinesh, sorry, but you are not eligible to take this exam as candidates appearing in this exam must have done an education degree viz B.Ed/B.El.Ed/D.Ed/D.El.Ed etc along with graduation/post graduation to be eligible for CTET exam.

Hi Sukhveer, no, it is not necessary to choose English as a subject in CTET. Choice of the language is totally candidate's choice.
