UPPSC PCS 2026 Vacancy May Increase

UPPSC PCS 2026 has received around 8.90 lakh applications for approximately 500 advertised vacancies. The Commission has indicated that the number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending on additional requisitions received from various departments. UPPSC PCS Prelims 2026 is scheduled for Dec 6, 2026. At present, candidates should consider around 500 posts as the advertised vacancies. Any increase in vacancies will be confirmed by UPPSC through an official update or revised vacancy details.

UPPSC 2026 Eligibility Criteria

UPPSC 2026 Application Process

UPPSC application process is online and requires candidates to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the official UPPSC website. The registration for the exam has begun on June 25, 2026. Candidates should avoid any last-minute delays. Here is the step-by-step UPPSC application process 2026: 

1. Stage One - Authentication via O.T.R.:

   • Click Apply, then Authenticate with O.T.R.
   • If you've already completed the One-Time Registration (O.T.R.), select 'Yes', enter your O.T.R. number, and proceed. You'll be authenticated via an OTP sent to your registered mobile/email.
   • If not registered, choose 'No', go to the O.T.R. portal here, register, and then return to the application page to continue.

2. Stage Two - Fill in Personal Details:
   After successful authentication, your details will automatically appear. You will need to:

   • Fill in the essential qualifications required for the post you are applying for.
   • Choose from the options [PCS Examination-2026], [ACF/RFO Examination-2026], or [PCS/ACF/RFO Examination-2026 (Both)] as per your eligibility.

3. Stage Three - Fee Payment:
   After completing the form, proceed to the fee payment page:

   • Select one of the payment methods: Net Banking, Card Payments, or Other Payment Modes.
   • After payment, you’ll be directed to a "Payment Transaction Slip" page. Save or print this slip for your records. If payment fails, go back to your dashboard and complete the payment process.

4. Stage Four - Final Submission and Print:
   Once your payment is confirmed, your application form will appear.

   • Take a printout of the completed form for future reference. This printout should be kept safely in case you need it during verification or in case of any discrepancies.

5. Modify Application (If Necessary):

   • In case you need to modify any details (like qualifications), you can do so until the last date by logging in to your dashboard.

UPPSC 2026  Exam Pattern

UPPSC 2026 Exam Pattern is different for Prelims and Mains exams. The former has objective MCQ-type questions while the Mains has descriptive questions. The details of both are given here.

UPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

• The Preliminary exam will consist of two question papers.
• Paper I is considered for merit while Paper II is qualifying with the required score of 33%.
• There is a negative marking of 1/3rd of the assigned marks for every wrong answer.
• The duration of each paper is 2 hours.

UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern was revised last year. The optional papers have been removed to introduce 2 more papers of General Studies. The details of the same are given here.

UPPSC 2026 tests the candidates on their knowledge and skills in the prelims examination and the mains examination mostly asks questions related to in-depth knowledge of subjects. UPPSC Interview

UPPSC interview will be conducted for 100 marks. You will be assessed on your general and academic interests, along with your general awareness, intelligence, character, expression/ power/ personality, and general suitability for the service.

The details you enter in the Detailed Application Form before the Mains exam is very important as the questions are generally based around that. The Interview or Personality Test will be conducted at the UPPSC’s office at Prayagraj. 

UPPSC 2026 Salary

UPPSC 2026 salary differs by post, and the basic posts have a pay scale of Rs. 9300- 34,800 (Grade pay Rs. 44600) and Rs. 15600- 39100 (Grade Pay 5400). However, the post of Naib Tehsildar is an exception, as its pay scale is between Rs. 9300 and 34800 with the grade pay of Rs. 4200.

UPPSC Selection Process 2026

UPPSC selection process 2026  is completely offline. The selection process for UPPSC PCS 2026 involves three main stages:

• Preliminary Examination: This is the first stage of the selection process, consisting of objective-type questions.
• Main Examination: Candidates who qualify in the prelims will proceed to the main exam, which includes written papers.
• Interview: Finally, shortlisted candidates from the main exam will appear for an interview. Overall performance across all three stages will determine the final selection.

UPPSC Answer Key 2026

UPPSC Prelim answer key 2026 has been released for its October 12, 2026, Prelims. It is a provisional answer key, and candidates can raise objections against it if required. The Commission activates the objection only for a certain period and you need to pay for your objection. The final UPPSC answer key has been issued after considering all the objections and representations. You must note that no objections against the final answer key will be entertained under any circumstances.

UPPSC 2026 Result 

UPPSC Prelims 2026 Result has been declared for the Prelims conducted on October 12, 2026. The Commission released the merit list containing the roll numbers of Prelims qualifiers before the scorecards are made available.
