The UPPCS is the name of the exam of the Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Exam that is conducted for recruitment in state government departments. It is the UPPSC PCS, which is essentially the UP government State services. There are almost 200 vacancies in the state government in departments such as land records, general administration, land records, revenue, etc.

The UPPCS Exam notification was out by April 20th, 2020. The UPPSC PCS prelims exam is scheduled to be on October 11th. The UPPSC 2020 main exam is scheduled to be on January 22nd, 2021.

The candidates who are selected as the PCS officers have the opportunity to get promoted to become officers of Indian Administrative Services. The centres for Prelims and for Main exams are separate. All the centre names are explained below.


  • There are around 75 districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh, but the number of centres is only 21.
  • Candidates need to travel a lot for giving the test, sometimes to the farthest corner of the state.
  • Due to the coronavirus pandemic, candidates can choose a centre that is nearer to their houses.
  • The UPPSC PCS admit card is released two weeks before the exam where the centre of examination is mentioned. Candidates are advised to check it.

UPPSC PCS Main Exam Centres

For the exam centres of the Mains exam, it must be noted that there are only two centres. This might be a bit of a problem for some students as they need to travel to any one of the centres to give the exams. There is no other option as candidates have to choose between the two centres. The names of the centres are given below.

  • Lucknow
  • Prayagraj

If candidates are selected for the interview round, that will happen at the Commission’s office in Prayagraj. Once the personality test is complete, the final result will be out for the selection of the UPPSC PCS exam.

Important Instructions

Important Instructions Regarding the Prelims and Mains Exam Centres

Below are certain vital instructions and points that must be taken care of.

  • The admit card of the UPPSC PCS Exam will be sent to the candidates two weeks or ten days prior to the exam. Candidates must ensure that they get accustomed to the exam centre.
  • It is advisable to arrange for the travel, if required, to the prelim exam centre in advance to avoid chaos at the last moment.
  • Candidates must ensure that they are taking all the required things like admit card, identity cards, and stationery materials to the centre.
  • Since only two centres are there for the Main exam centre, candidates need to make a prior plan and travel adjustments.
  • Since the Main exam is conducted for four to five days, candidates must make plans for staying there. All the accommodation must be arranged prior to the exam.
  • It is advisable that candidates must carry all important books and study material with them for the Main exam.
  • Candidates must ensure that they check the exam centre beforehand and also reach the centre at least an hour before the exam begins to avoid chaos and confusion.
