RBI Grade B Officer Exam is one of the most putative exams in the Banking Division. This RBI Grade B exam is directed to recognize worthy aspirants for positions in DR, DEPR (Department of Economic Policy and Research) and DSIM (Department of Statistics & Information Management) in Common Seniority Group (CGS).

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

To appear for RBI Grade B Examination 2021, a candidate must be either: —

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  3. a Tibetan refugee who is permanently settled in India prior to January 1, 1962, or
  4. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from either Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of residing permanently in India.

Please note that candidates belonging to categories (2), (3), and (4) should possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria: Academic Qualification

RBI has reclined educational basis for the enlistment of aspirants. All these Educational qualifications are as on 01 January,2021. Minimal scholastic qualification required for different posts is represented in tabular form below.

Officer in Grade B (DR) – General

Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation in any discipline/ Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters / years.

Graduation level:

  • Any such course from an authorised University / Institute that is taken after Class 12th and is at least of 3 years’ duration/ aspirants possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.
  • Candidates who have passed the Final Examination for Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India may also apply for the post, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Post-Graduation level:

  • Any such course from an authorised University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least of 2 years’ duration / recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical Post Graduation will be able for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Officer in Grade B (DR) - DSIM

  1. A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Econometrics/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay / Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years;

OR

  1. Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute;

OR

  1. M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years;

OR

  1. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

Officer in Grade B (DR) – DEPR

  1. A Master's Degree in Economics / Quantitative Economics/ Econometrics / Mathematical Economics / Finance/ Integrated Economics Course, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from an authorised Indian or Foreign University /Institute;

OR

  1. PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute;

OR

  1. Reserve Bank of India Services Board, Mumbai Advt. No. 1 A /2020-21 8 c. Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the subcategories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

According to guidelines issued by RBI, applicants whose results are awaited are ineligible to register for any of the above-mentioned posts.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

Maximum and minimum age limit is set up by the govt. for this exam. Age limit criteria are mentioned below.

  • Lower Age Limit for Candidates - 21 yrs.
  • Upper Age Limit for a candidate - 30 yrs, as on January 1, 2021.

Hence, the aspirants should have been born not before 2 January 1991 and not after 1 January 2000. In addition, the aspirants, who possess M.Phil and Ph.D qualifications, upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively. Grade B Attempts

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria: Number of Attempts

As per RBI guidelines, certain categories are exempted from a number of attempts whereas others have a restrainment.

According to RBI Grade B officer eligibility General category is limited to only 6 attempts.

Whereas OBC/ SC/ ST and PWD candidates have no curtailment on the number of attempts until the paramount age limitation is reached.

Hi Koyena. The lower Age Limit for Candidates is 21 yrs while the upper Age Limit for a candidate is 30 yrs. Detailed eligibility criteria is presented here.

How many attempts are there for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR and DSIM?

Hi Priya. Candidates belonging to General category can give the exam up to 6 times while the ones belonging to SC/ST/PWD have no Limit.
