Which of the following terms is not applicable to the weathering process ?

The correct answer is

Slump

Slump option is correct.

Weathering is the in situ breakdown of rock by physical, chemical, or biological processes. Its characteristic products and mechanisms include regolith (the mantle of loose weathered material overlying bedrock), saprolite (chemically decomposed but structurally intact bedrock), and chelation (the removal of metal cations by organic chelating agents in soil).

A slump, by contrast, is a form of mass-movement (a rotational landslide along a curved failure plane) — a transport process that removes already-weathered material, not a weathering mechanism itself. It is therefore the term that does not belong in the weathering vocabulary.

Regolith, saprolite, and chelation are all textbook weathering products/processes (Savindra Singh, Thornbury); slump is discussed under mass-wasting.
