I. Farrukh Siyar

II. Alamgir II

SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 Question Paper (21-Nov-2025) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

Both I and II

The question relates to the later Mughal period, when the emperors had become weak figureheads controlled by powerful court nobles.

Farrukh Siyar (reigned 1713-1719) was placed on the throne with the help of the Sayyid Brothers, the so-called 'king-makers' of that era.

When he tried to free himself from their control, the Sayyid Brothers had him blinded, deposed and finally killed, so statement I is correct.

Alamgir II (reigned 1754-1759) was raised to the throne by his wazir Imad-ul-Mulk and remained under his domination throughout.

Imad-ul-Mulk later had Alamgir II murdered, confirming that this emperor too was assassinated by a noble, so statement II is also correct.

Since both emperors were killed at the hands of their own nobles, both statements hold true.

Hence, the correct answer is Both I and II.
