The least distance of distinct vision (also called the near point) for a normal adult human eye is approximately 25 cm.

It is the minimum distance at which an object can be placed and still be clearly focused on the retina without strain. Objects closer than this cannot be seen clearly because the eye's lens cannot accommodate sufficiently.
