Question

If ‘A’ stands for ‘÷’, ‘B’ stands for ‘×’, ‘C’ stands for ‘+’ and ‘D’ stands for ‘−’, what will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following equation?

(80 A 8) B 5 C 14 B 2 D 11 B 3 C 72 A 4 = ?

RRB Group D 2024 Question Paper PDF (27-Dec-2025) (Shift 2)
The correct answer is

63

Replace each letter with its symbol: A = ÷, B = ×, C = +, D = −.

The expression becomes (80 ÷ 8) × 5 + 14 × 2 − 11 × 3 + 72 ÷ 4.

Solve the brackets and apply BODMAS (do ÷ and × before + and −): (80 ÷ 8) = 10, so 10 × 5 = 50; 14 × 2 = 28; 11 × 3 = 33; 72 ÷ 4 = 18.

Now add and subtract left to right: 50 + 28 − 33 + 18 = 78 − 33 + 18 = 45 + 18 = 63.

Hence, the value in place of the question mark is 63.
