Question

Read the following statement carefully and identify the conclusion that follows.

Statement:

Some cars are electric. All electric vehicles are eco-friendly. Some eco-friendly things are expensive.

Conclusions:

I. Some cars may be eco-friendly.

II. Some expensive things are not cars.

This question was previously asked in
SSC CPO 2025 Paper 1 Question Paper (9-Dec-2025) (Shift 2)
The correct answer is

Only I follows

From "Some cars are electric" and "All electric vehicles are eco-friendly", the cars that are electric must also be eco-friendly. So at least some cars are eco-friendly.

Conclusion I says "Some cars may be eco-friendly". Since some cars are definitely eco-friendly, the possibility stated in Conclusion I is certainly true, so Conclusion I follows.

Conclusion II speaks about expensive things and cars. The statements link expensive things only to some eco-friendly things and say nothing about whether those expensive things are cars or not, so no definite relation between expensive things and cars can be drawn. Conclusion II does not follow.

Hence, only Conclusion I follows.
