Cast iron contains a high percentage of carbon in the form of graphite flakes, which make it hard and very strong in compression but brittle, so it cracks suddenly under shock or bending.

Wrought iron is an almost carbon-free iron with fine slag fibres, giving it a soft, tough and highly ductile structure that can bend and stretch without fracturing.

Because it deforms rather than snaps, wrought iron absorbs sudden impact energy and can be forged, bent and hammered into shape, which is why it suits parts subjected to shock loads.

Where maximum compressive strength or high wear resistance is wanted, cast iron is actually the better material, so those options describe cast iron's strengths, not wrought iron's.

Vibration damping is another special quality of grey cast iron's graphite structure, so that option also points away from wrought iron.
