Question

In a division sum, the divisor is 20 times the quotient and 8 times the remainder. If the remainder is 50, what is the dividend?

The correct answer is

8050

Remainder = 50.

Divisor = 8 × remainder = 8 × 50 = 400.

Divisor = 20 × quotient ⇒ quotient = 400 ÷ 20 = 20.

Dividend = divisor × quotient + remainder = 400 × 20 + 50 = 8000 + 50 = 8050.

Hence, 8050.
