In a certain code language, 'A # B' means 'A is the son of B', 'A % B' means 'A is the brother of B', 'A - B' means 'A is the wife of B' and 'A @ B' means 'A is the father of B'.

How is S related to U if 'S # M @ H % Y - U'?

This question was previously asked in
RRB Group D 2025 Question Paper (18-Aug-2026) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

Wife's brother

Decode each symbol in the chain S # M @ H % Y - U.

S # M: S is the son of M, so M is a parent of S (and S is male).

M @ H: M is the father of H, so H is another child of M. Therefore S and H share the same father M, making them siblings.

H % Y: H is the brother of Y, so Y is a sibling of H, and therefore also a child of M. Hence S and Y are siblings.

Y - U: Y is the wife of U, so Y is female and U is her husband.

S is the male sibling of Y, and Y is U's wife. Hence, S is the wife's brother of U.
