If the simple interest on a certain sum of money for 4 years at 5% per annum is ₹500, what would be the simple interest on the same sum for 6 years at 7% per annum?

Finding the Principal Sum

From the first scenario, we have: SI = ₹500 T = 4 years R = 5% per annum

We can rearrange the formula to find the principal sum (P): $P = \frac{SI \times 100}{R \times T}$

Substitute the given values:

$P = \frac{500 \times 100}{5 \times 4}$

$P = \frac{50000}{20}$

$P = ₹2500$

So, the principal sum of money is ₹2,500.

Calculating the New Simple Interest

Now, we need to calculate the simple interest for the second scenario using the same principal sum (P = ₹2,500): T = 6 years R = 7% per annum

Using the simple interest formula:

$SI = \frac{P \times R \times T}{100}$

$SI = \frac{2500 \times 7 \times 6}{100}$

$SI = 25 \times 7 \times 6$

$SI = 25 \times 42$

$SI = ₹1050$
