Question

If the length and breadth of a Rectangle are both doubled, how many times will its area be when compared to the original area?

This question was previously asked in
OTET 2026 Social Studies Question Paper (5-Jul-2026)
The correct answer is

4 times

Let original length = l, breadth = b, so original area = l × b.

New length = 2l, new breadth = 2b, so new area = 2l × 2b = 4lb = 4 × (original area).

Hence the new area is 4 times the original area. Answer: (C) 4 times.
