The correct answer is
44% increase
Let the original number be 100. Increasing it by 60% gives \(100 \times 1.6 = 160\).
Decreasing 160 by 10% gives \(160 \times 0.9 = 144\).
The net change from 100 to 144 is an increase of 44.
So the net percentage change is a 44% increase.
