Question

Find the missing number in the given series. -2.7, -2.1, -1.5, -0.9, -0.3, ?

This question was previously asked in
RRB ALP/Technician 2018 CBT 2 Electronics Mechanic Question Paper (23-Jan-2019) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

0.3

Find the difference between successive terms of the series.

-2.1 - (-2.7) = 0.6, -1.5 - (-2.1) = 0.6, -0.9 - (-1.5) = 0.6, -0.3 - (-0.9) = 0.6.

So each term is 0.6 more than the previous one, and the next term is -0.3 + 0.6 = 0.3.

Check: the series -2.7, -2.1, -1.5, -0.9, -0.3, 0.3 keeps a constant step.

Hence, 0.3.
