What box is there in zimindand?

RPF SI 2018 Question Paper PDF (10-Jan-2019) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

One of the boxes above pumpkin

The translation is garbled. Read it as: seven boxes are stacked and numbered 1 (bottom) to 7 (top); the vegetables are carrot, onion, potato, cabbage, beans, pumpkin and yam ("ground vegetable", called "landline"/"zimindand" in the text). Conditions: carrot is in an odd-numbered box; cabbage is not in the top box; potato is in the middle box; beans are above the potato; pumpkin is just below the carrot; potato is next to neither beans nor cabbage; yam is not in box 5.

Potato is in the middle box, i.e. box 4.

Beans are above box 4 but not next to it, so beans are in box 6 or 7. Cabbage is not next to box 4 (not 3 or 5) and not in box 7.

Carrot is in an odd box with pumpkin directly below it. Box 1 has nothing below it, box 5 would put pumpkin in box 4 (potato), and box 7 would need pumpkin in 6. If beans are in 6, carrot cannot be in 7; if beans are in 7, carrot cannot be there either. So carrot is in box 3 and pumpkin in box 2.

The remaining vegetables (cabbage, onion, yam) fill box 1, box 5 and whichever of 6/7 is free. Cabbage cannot take box 5 or 7, yam cannot take box 5, so onion is in box 5.

Taking cabbage in the bottom box 1, the yam goes into box 6 or 7 - in either case above the pumpkin in box 2.

Hence, the yam is in one of the boxes above the pumpkin.
