The correct answer is

Both [A] and [R] are true, but [R] is not the correct explanation of [A]

The Gandhi-Irwin Pact was signed on 5 March 1931 between Mahatma Gandhi and the Viceroy Lord Irwin.

Assertion [A] is true: under the pact the Congress agreed to suspend the Civil Disobedience Movement, while the government agreed to release political prisoners not guilty of violence and to allow salt to be made for personal use along the coast.

Reason [R] is true: as a further term of the pact, Gandhi attended the Second Round Table Conference in London (September–December 1931) as the sole representative of the Congress.

However, [R] does not explain [A]. Attending the conference was a separate consequence of the same agreement; the movement was suspended because of the pact itself, not because Gandhi went to London. Hence the relationship is not one of cause and explanation, and the choices calling either statement false do not hold.

Both [A] and [R] are true, but [R] is not the correct explanation of [A] option is correct.
