The Stefan-Boltzmann law states that the total energy radiated per unit area per second (the emissive power) by a black body is directly proportional to the fourth power of its absolute temperature:

\(E = \sigma T^{4}\)

where \(\sigma\) is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant. So the energy radiated is proportional to \(T^{4}\), not to \(T\), \(T^{2}\), or \(T^{3}\).
