According to idealism, what is the goal of education ?
Self-realization or exaltation of personality
Idealism holds that ideas, mind and spirit are the ultimate reality. Its educational aim is therefore spiritual and moral: to develop the self to its highest possible level, i.e. self-realization or the exaltation of personality.
Satisfaction of human needs and developing a dynamic, resourceful and adaptable mind are aims associated with pragmatism, which judges education by its practical usefulness.
Perfect adaptation to the environment is the biological, naturalistic view of education, which follows nature and the child's instincts rather than ideals.
Hence, according to idealism the goal of education is self-realization or exaltation of personality.
