Question

A statement followed by two assumptions I and II is given below. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which assumptions are implicit in the statement.
Statement:
I like repairing bikes. I want to be a mechanical engineer.
Assumptions:
I) I am a mechanical engineer.
II) I used to repair bikes.

This question was previously asked in
RRB Group D 2018 Question Paper (11-Oct-2018) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

Only assumption II is implicit.

Assumption I ('I am a mechanical engineer') contradicts the statement 'I want to be a mechanical engineer', which implies the speaker is not one yet.

Assumption II ('I used to repair bikes') is implicit in 'I like repairing bikes' — liking an activity typically implies past experience with it.

So only assumption II is implicit.

Hence, Only assumption II is implicit..
