A pump fills 5/6 of a tank in 20 minutes. How many minutes are required to fill the whole tank ?

The correct answer is

24

If the pump fills \(\frac{5}{6}\) of the tank in 20 minutes, the time to fill the whole tank is found by dividing 20 by \(\frac{5}{6}\).

\(\text{Time} = 20 \div \frac{5}{6} = 20 \times \frac{6}{5} = 24\)

Hence, 24 minutes are required to fill the whole tank.
