Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) will conduct RRB ALP CBT 1 under CEN 01/2026 on 3 November 2026. Shift 1 is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM; reporting and gate-closing times are on the e-call letter. CBT 1 has 75 questions for 75 marks in 60 minutes with 1/3 negative marking. General Awareness is no longer part of CBT 1, so the paper covers Mathematics, Mental Ability and General Science. This sitting is part of RRB ALP recruitment for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot posts. RRB ALP 2026 Nov 3 Shift 1: Difficulty Level and Good Attempts

Shift 1 ends at 10:00 AM on 3 November 2026. Difficulty level, good attempts and subject-wise question counts will be filled from candidate feedback and a review of the paper. Question paper PDFs and answer keys will be added after the exam; see RRB ALP 2026 CBT 1 question paper for updates.

Note: Good attempts refer to the number of questions candidates may attempt with reasonable accuracy. The overall range will be a broad benchmark based on shift reports and will not be calculated by adding every endpoint of the subject-wise ranges. Actual performance depends on accuracy and the 3 November question paper.

RRB ALP CBT 1 Nov 3 Shift 1 Timing and Exam Details 2026

Each candidate gets one date and shift, and RRBs do not accept requests to change it. A 60-minute paper with 75 questions leaves about 48 seconds per question. Centre, reporting time and exam-day instructions are printed on the e-call letter. Download details are on RRB ALP admit card page.

RRB ALP Mathematics Analysis 2026 (Nov 3 Shift 1)

Mathematics is the calculation-based subject of CBT 1. The syllabus is arithmetic-heavy with some algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Important syllabus topics:

• Number system, BODMAS, decimals and fractions
• LCM, HCF, ratio and proportion, percentages
• Profit and loss, simple and compound interest
• Time and work, time and distance, pipes and cistern
• Mensuration, algebra, geometry and trigonometry
• Elementary statistics, square root, age calculations, calendar and clock

RRB ALP Mental Ability Analysis 2026 (Nov 3 Shift 1)

Mental Ability covers verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and CBT 2 later tests the same area as General Intelligence and Reasoning. Important syllabus topics:

• Analogies, classification, similarities and differences
• Alphabetical and number series, coding and decoding
• Mathematical operations, relationships, directions
• Syllogism, Venn diagram, jumbling
• Data interpretation and sufficiency, analytical reasoning
• Conclusions, decision making, statement, arguments and assumptions

RRB ALP General Science Analysis 2026 (Nov 3 Shift 1)

General Science follows the Class 10 standard and is the only theory-based subject in CBT 1 now that General Awareness is removed. Important syllabus areas:

• Physics: motion, force, work and energy, heat, light, sound, electricity
• Chemistry: chemical reactions, acids and bases, metals and non-metals
• Life Sciences: human body systems, nutrition, respiration, reproduction

RRB ALP CBT 1 February 2026 Difficulty Benchmark for Nov 3 Shift 1

The table below is a historical benchmark, not a Shift 1 finding. It covers the previous cycle (CEN 01/2025) CBT 1 held on 13, 16, 17 and 18 February 2026, with all shifts combined. That paper also had General Awareness, which is not part of CBT 1 in 2026, so subject ratings are indicative only.

RRB ALP CBT 1 Qualifying Marks and Next Stage After Nov 3 Shift 1

CBT 1 is a screening test, and its marks are not counted in the final merit list. Marks are normalised across shifts, so no single shift decides the result on its own. RRBs shortlist candidates for CBT 2 at 15 times the notified vacancies of each RRB, based on CBT 1 merit.

These are qualifying percentages, not shortlisting cutoffs, and the same slabs apply to Ex-servicemen by their category. The expected cutoff is not yet determined; see RRB ALP cutoff for updates. CBT 2 has 175 questions in 150 minutes, and the RRBs will announce its schedule separately.
