MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) Eligibility 2021

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) takes various exams to select candidates for different jobs within government departments. For the year 2020, MPSC has extended the exams to September 20, 2020. The commission decides the eligibility criteria for the several exams conducted by it each year. However, the minimum and the maximum age group of the interested candidates should be 18 years and 35 years respectively for appearing the exam. This is the basic criteria to apply for the MPSC 2021 exam. 

Maharashtra Subordinate Services Exam, Agriculture Services Examination, Group C Services Exam, etc. are the exams conducted each year by MPSC. Candidates planning to apply to these MPSC exams can apply online by visiting the official website, MPSC State Service Exam is conducted once in a year to select the qualifying job seekers for Group A and B jobs that come under the Maharashtra administration.

MPSC State Service Exam 2021 Pattern includes

  • Prelims: 2 papers – 400 marks
  • Mains: 6 papers – 800 marks
  • Interview: 100 marks

MPSC 2021 Eligibility

Only Indian Nationals can apply for these exams. To apply for MPSC State Service Exam 2021, candidates must be the citizen of India, residents of Maharashtra state can get some relaxation in eligibility criteria. The residents of Maharashtra living in the state for more than 10 years are eligible for reservation. Fluency in Marathi (spoken and written) is a vital eligibility criterion to apply to these exams.

MPSC Exam Age Limit

The minimum and maximum MPSC age limit for the State Service Exam (for the year 2020) is mentioned below:

  • Minimum Age (as on March 1, 2021): 18 years
  • Maximum Age (as on March 1, 2021): 33 years (General Category)

Note: While appearing for MPSC state exam, candidates need to have completed at least 18 years of age (on or before March 1 of the year in which candidates are giving MPSC Prelims exam). Some relaxations in age are granted to the candidates based on their category.

MPSC age relaxation limit for the candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST, Persons with disabilities (PwD), ex-servicemen are discussed below:

  • The lower age limit is 18 years while the maximum age limit is 33 years (for candidates belonging to General category as on March 1, 2021).
  • Age relaxation will be applied for candidates belonging to the reserved category as per government norms.

MPSC Educational Qualification

Candidates meeting the below-mentioned educational eligibility criteria for MPSC exams are eligible to apply to these exams:

  • He/she must be efficient in Marathi
  • He/she must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply to these exams.

Candidates can apply unlimited times to these exams as there is no maximum limit on the number of attempts.

Since MPSC exams are taken for a wider range of posts and services, so each post has specific eligibility criteria (including educational qualification, physical fitness, etc.). Few posts need subject-specific expertise as per the rules set by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission.

MPSC Physical Measurements

While applying to several MPSC posts, candidates must meet physical fitness/measurements as eligibility requirements. While applying for the post of DSP, ACP, etc. below mentioned MPSC Physical Qualification is vital.

Minimum height for DSP post - 165 cm (for males)

For female candidates, it is 157 cm.

MPSC 2021 Application Process

Candidates applying for MPSC exams have to adhere to the fowling steps mentioned below:


  • Visit the official website of MPSC (
  • After that tab on the ‘New user registration’ to begin with the online registration procedure.
  • Candidates are supposed to submit details like their name, contact number, email address, date of birth, etc. while applying. After that click on the ‘Create User’ tab.
  • The candidates’ registration confirmation page will open if you have successfully registered for the same.
  • Also, candidates need to upload scanned images of their recent passport- size photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned below:
  • Photograph 4.5 x 3.5 cm 50 KB
  • Signature 4.5 x 3.5 cm 50 KB
  • Once all the mandatory fields have been filled, candidates can check the preview of their application form and verify the information presented.
  • After cross-checking all the details, click on the ‘Save’ button
  • Pen down user name and password for the next time.

  • Register creating a new email id.
  • Start filling the application form online by using correct & true information.
  • Now pay the application fee after uploading a scanned photograph and signature to complete the application process.

  • Candidates can pay fees online using their debit, credit card, net banking, etc.

Selection of Exam Center

  • While selecting the exam centre, candidates need to log in again using their accounts and click on the option of ‘Competitive exam’.
  • After that, click on the tab ‘Select Center’.
  • Candidates are free to select the exam centre from the drop-down list and submit it.

There is no such requirement for MPSC exam you just need to be a graduate from any field to apply in MPSC exam. There is no minimum percantage required.

Hi Avinash. The difficulty level of both the exams are different. UPSC mains is written exam while MPSC is objective exam. Also, UPSC have wide range of syllabus as compared to MPSC. So it all depends upon you how much efforts you put in while preparing for the exams.
