JTET 2026 eligibility criteria are based on the candidate’s educational qualification and nationality. Applicants must be Indian citizens to be eligible for the exam. They should possess the required educational qualifications prescribed for the paper they wish to appear for, Paper 1 (Classes 1–5) or Paper 2 (Classes 6–8). Those currently pursuing or awaiting the final results of their teacher training courses are also eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for JTET 2026. JTET Educational Qualification 2026

JTET Educational Qualification 2026 has different requirements for paper 1 and paper 2 exams. The detailed educational qualifications for both papers are given below:

JTET Paper 1 (Primary)

Candidates applying for JTET Paper 1 (Classes 1–5) must possess any one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) program from a recognised institution.
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Special Education (D.Ed. – Special Education)
  • Graduation (BA/B.Sc) with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree from a recognised university or institution

JTET Paper 2 (Upper Primary)

Candidates applying for JTET Paper 2 (Classes 6–8) must possess any one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), either completed or appearing in the final year.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree, completed or currently in the final year of the program.
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and enrollment in or completion of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or B.A./B.Sc.Ed program from a recognised institution.
  • B.A. (Education), B.Sc. (Education), or B.Ed (Special Education) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised institution.

JTET Nationality Criteria 2026

JTET Nationality Criteria require candidates to be Indian nationals. Candidates who hold Indian citizenship and meet the specified age limit and educational qualification requirements can apply for the exam.

JTET Age Limit 2026

JTET Age Limit does not specify any upper age restriction for applicants. Candidates of any age who meet the required educational qualifications and nationality criteria are eligible to apply for JTET 2026, as long as they fulfil these requirements.
