The basic eligibility criteria that are required for the candidates to be eligible for the JKPSC (Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission) exam 2020 has been given below:

  • In order to be eligible to apply for the examination, a candidate must be the permanent citizen of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Age Criteria: There is a minimum age criteria for the candidates to be eligible to appear for the paper. A candidate must be between 21 to 32 years in order to be eligible for the exam.

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) accepts the application from those who are eligible for the exam in an online mode. The applications can be made online through the official website of the Commission. Below is given detailed information regarding the application process:

How to apply for the exam?

  • Step 1: First of all, Visit the official website of the commission, i.e., www.jkpsc.nic.in.
  • Step 2: After visiting the official website of the commission, find the official link to apply for the examination. Click on the register option and Apply for the exam.
  • Step 3: Students can register on clicking the official link available on the website using the mobile number and email- ID. Along with that, fill in all the details required like DOB, Name, Parents’ name, educational qualification, etc.
  • Step 4: Students are asked to fill in more details and complete the registration process thereafter.
  • Step 5: After filling all the necessary details, students are asked to upload the necessary documents like Identity proof, mark sheets, caste certificate (if applicable), income certificate (if applicable), etc.
  • Step 6: You will be redirected to the payment page. Make the payment of the application fees through debit/ credit card. You can also make payment using internet banking or e- challan.
  • Step 7: After completing all the necessary steps and reviewing the application form, Click on the final submission button to finally submit the application process.

JKPSC 2020 Selection Process

The selection process of the JKPSC examination consists of several stages. JKPSC exam is basically conducted in three stages: Preliminary exam and Mains exams followed by a final interview. Preliminary examination is an objective paper while the mains examination is a subjective written exam. The different stages of the examination are described below:

  • Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): The first stage of the JKPSC examination is the Preliminary Examination. It is an objective test consisting of two papers. The marks scored in the preliminary exam are not counted in merit.
  • Mains Examination (Subjective Type): The second stage of the JKPSC examination is the Mains Examination. It is a subjective test that consists of 9 papers out of which 7 are counted in merit and rest 2 are qualifying in nature.
  • Final Interview: The final stage of the JKPSC recruitment process is the final interview. The candidates who clear the first two stages are called for the final interview. This is conducted to test the communication skills and quick decision-making capability of the candidates.

Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission conducts various competitive examinations for direct recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services, Police services, and Accounts services.

The exam for the recruitments in various civil services under Jammu and Kashmir public service commission is conducted in different stages. The three basic stages of the examination are: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Final Interview. Candidates must clear all the three stages of JKPSC examination to qualify the paper. Below is given the exam pattern of the JKPSC exam for the year 2020.

STAGE 1: Prelims exam Objective type

The first stage of clearing the JKPSC exam is the Preliminary Examination. A candidate has to appear for the objective test in order to clear the JKPSC exam.

  • The preliminary examination consists of two papers which are objective in nature.
  • The questions that come in the preliminary examination are Multiple Choice questions.
  • The question paper of the preliminary examination consists of 450 marks in all.
  • This test is qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in Preliminary examination are not counted in merit. It is just a screening test.
  • The language of the question paper is English.
  • Each paper will be of two hours only.
  • There is no provision of negative marking in Preliminary exam.

  • The question paper of the Mains Examination consists of Subjective questions which are of descriptive type.
  • 2 out of 9 papers are qualifying in nature while the other 7 papers are counted in merit.
  • The candidates who clear the mains examination are called for the final interview session.
  • The duration of each paper will be for three hours.
  • The question papers other than language papers will be set in English.

Stage 3 Final Interview

The interview test is the final stage of the JKPSC recruitment process. Those who clear both Preliminary and Mains examinations are finally called for an interview.

  • The interview is conducted to basically judge the mental caliber of the candidates. There is a real assessment of not only the intellectual qualities but also the social traits and general interest of the candidates in the current affairs.
  • Candidates are judged on the basis of their mental alertness, clear and logical expositions, depth of interest, balance of judgment, intellectual and moral integrity, etc. in their interview.
  • Those who fail to obtain the minimum marks in more than one subject are not eligible to be called for an interview.
