Candidates from the Mechanical and Electrical engineering branches with valid GATE Scorecards will be able to apply for the BHEL Recruitment process.   • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or Five years integrated Master’s degree or Dual Degree programme in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines from a recognized Indian University/ Institute.
  • Candidates qualifying the above Engineering disciplines should take the GATE 2026 paper only in EE or ME code if they wish to be considered for Electrical or Mechanical Discipline in BHEL.

How to fill Application Form of BHEL recruitment through GATE Exam

To fill the application form in online mode, the candidate should follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Filling the details

  • Visit the official website of BHEL. Candidates must begin the BHEL application process by clicking on the “Apply Online” link.
  • Then, one must select the discipline to apply for and enter the GATE 2026 Registration Number.
  • After this, the personal details and educational qualification details must be filled in and click on the “Submit” Button.
  • After this, an Acknowledgement Number will be generated, which must be noted for future use.

Step 2: Upload Scanned Images and Documents

  • After completion of registration, candidates must log in with the Acknowledgement number, user name and date of birth as password.
  • Then, upload the documents in the specified format and save the BHEL Application form.

Step 3: Payment of Application Fee

After uploading all the documents, candidates must pay the BHEL application fee of Rs 300 (plus service tax) through Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking. It must be noted that SC / ST / EXAM / PWD Candidates are exempted from paying any fee.

Lastly, click on the “Submit” button to submit the completed application form. Candidates are advised to take a printout of their application form. However, they are not required to send any documents to the BHEL office.

BHEL Recruitment through GATE: Selection Process

  • On the basis of GATE 2026 marks and obtained marks in the engineering discipline, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview round in the ratio of 1:5 to the number of vacancies in each discipline and category.
  • The candidates who are differently enabled, will be shortlisted up to 50 % relaxation below the cut-off marks in their respective categories for being shortlisted for the BHEL interview.
  • The BHEL final merit list will be released based on 75% Weightage to GATE-2026 score and 25% Weightage to the Interview phase.

BHEL Recruitment through GATE: Medical Tests

After releasing the final merit list, the selected candidates will be medically examined for a proper health check before joining the BHEL. Here are a few factors related to BHEL Medical Checkup:

  • The medical center and the doctor will be appointed by the firm and reserved candidates will not receive any health condition relaxations.
  • Definition of Locomotor Disability and Hearing Impairment for PwD is as per the Disabilities Act 1995.

The BHEL Engineering Trainees are rewarded as per the 7th Pay Commission. After the training period, the basic pay of the BHEL Engineering Trainee will be Rs 50,000/-.
