ASRB NET Exam Pattern 2026: Check Minimum Qualifying Marks

ASRB NET exam pattern defines how the CBT is structured to assess candidates’ discipline-specific knowledge and application skills for Lecturer/Assistant Professor posts in agricultural universities. The exam includes 150 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 2 hours. The paper is bilingual (Hindi and English) and set at the master’s degree level. This pattern applies to NET and the Prelims of ARS/SMS (T-6) and STO (T-6). The exam pattern of ARS/SMS (T‑6)/STO (T‑6) includes Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

For ARS, SMS, STO posts, the structure expands to a Prelims (objective), Mains (descriptive) and Interview stage.

1. Prelims:

ASRB ARS, SMS, STO Prelims exam is qualifying in nature. It assesses discipline-specific knowledge via objective MCQs. Only candidates who qualify proceed further.

For each correct answer, 1 mark is awarded and for each wrong answer 1/3 mark is deducted.

2. Mains:

ASRB ARS, SMS, STO Mains involves descriptive answers to evaluate the depth of knowledge, problem-solving, and application.

3. Interview:

ASRB ARS, SMS, STO interview assess the intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgment and alertness of mind, the ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative, and capacity for leadership and scientific research.

In case of two or more candidates securing equal aggregate marks in ASRB NET Mains and Interview, preference is first given to those scoring higher in the Mains exam. If the tie persists, marks obtained in the Prelims exam determine the final ranking. This structure ensures fairness and accuracy in preparing ASRB NET final merit list.
