XAT 2017 was conducted on 8 January 2017 by XLRI Jamshedpur for admission to MBA and PGDM programmes at XLRI and over 150 other participating B-schools. Tt was the last pen-and-paper XAT ever conducted. From 2018 onwards, the exam moved to CBT mode. XAT 2017 followed the standard two-part structure with 72 MCQs in Part 1 and GK plus Essay in Part 2, to be completed in a total of 210 minutes.

XAT 2017 Exam Pattern
XAT 2017 reduced the total MCQ count from 78 to 72 compared to the previous year, making it slightly more manageable. The penalty for unattempted questions now increased beyond 12 skipped questions The paper remained in pen-and-paper mode for the final time, and candidates were required to use only blue or black ballpoint pens on OMR sheets.
