XAT 2027 Registration and Exam Dates

XAT 2027 keeps its registration window open for close to five months, one of the longest application periods among major MBA entrance exams in India. The gap between the application deadline and the exam itself leaves about a month for final preparation.

XAT 2027 Application Fee, Including GMAT and GRE Routes

XAT 2027 fee depends on how a candidate is applying and which programmes they add. Most Indian candidates pay the base registration fee, but the structure changes for those applying through GMAT or GRE instead of the XAT score itself.

Payment is accepted online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or mobile wallets. The fee is non-refundable once paid, regardless of whether the candidate appears for the exam.

How to Register for XAT 2027

Registration is a single continuous online process that does not need to be finished in one sitting. Candidates can save progress at any stage and return to complete the form before the December deadline.

• Step 1: Visit xatonline.in and click 'Register' or 'Click here for New Registration'.
• Step 2: Enter your name, email ID, and mobile number. A verification link is sent to your email.
• Step 3: Click the verification link. Login credentials, an XAT ID and password, are then emailed and sent by SMS.
• Step 4: Log in and fill in personal details (date of birth, gender, parents' names, category, nationality).
• Step 5: Enter academic history starting from Class 10, along with any professional courses like CA, CS, or ICWA.
• Step 6: Enter work experience details, if any, starting with the most recent position. Classify your employment as Structured Sector, Unstructured Sector, or Self-Employed.
• Step 7: Select XLRI programmes you want to apply for, if any, and choose your preferred test cities.
• Step 8: Upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the size specifications.
• Step 9: Preview the form, confirm the declaration, and proceed to fee payment.
• Step 10: Pay online and download the confirmation page along with the e-receipt for your records.

Applying to Multiple XLRI Programmes Through XAT 2027

Registering for XAT does not automatically enter a candidate into any XLRI programme. Programme selection is a separate, deliberate step inside the application, and each one carries its own additional fee.

• Choose from Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), or the General Management Programme (GMP), and add each one manually from the dropdown menu.
• Selecting a programme like BM automatically covers both the Jamshedpur and Delhi-NCR campuses for that programme. A separate application for each campus is not needed.
• Each added programme costs an additional Rs 200 on top of the base Rs 2,200 registration fee.
• XAT scores are also accepted by 250+ other participating B-schools. Those institutes run their own separate admission and shortlisting process outside the XAT application itself.

Documents Required for XAT 2027 Registration

XAT registration references several academic records during form filling, even though only a few files are actually uploaded. Keeping everything ready before starting saves time across a form that has multiple sections.

• Scanned photograph: JPG/JPEG/PNG format, 200 x 230 pixels, 20 to 50 KB, light or white background.
• Scanned signature: JPG/JPEG/PNG format, 200 dpi resolution, 10 to 20 KB, black ink on white paper.
• Class 10, Class 12, and graduation mark sheets, for entering academic history.
• Master's degree mark sheet, if applicable.
• Valid photo ID proof and Aadhaar card details.
• Work experience certificates, for candidates who have full-time employment after graduation to declare.

Internship or articleship experience does not count as work experience on the XAT form. Only full-time employment completed after finishing the degree is counted.

Selecting Test Cities for XAT 2027

The exam is conducted across roughly 100 cities in India, and the application form asks candidates to rank city preferences rather than pick an exact test centre directly. The actual centre address is revealed only on the admit card.

• Candidates can select up to six preferred cities in order of priority.
• If the first-choice city cannot accommodate the candidate, allotment moves to the next preferred city on the list.
• City preferences cannot be changed once the form is submitted, so candidates should rank cities they can realistically travel to.

After Submitting the XAT 2027 Application

Once registration and fee payment are complete, XAT 2027 candidates wait for the admit card, expected in the third week of December 2026. The exam itself runs for 180 minutes across Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge, totalling 95 questions. The response sheet and provisional answer key follow within about a week, with an objection window for candidates who wish to challenge a specific answer. Results are expected in the last week of January 2027, after which XLRI and other participating institutes run their own shortlisting, essay writing, and interview rounds for final admission.
