WBPSC stands for West Bengal Public Service Commission which is the governmental body that conducts examinations for recruitment of the candidates in higher civil services in the state of West Bengal. WBPSC conducts West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) Examinations to recruit candidates for various state-level administrative services.

WBPSC Latest Updates

  • WBCS Exam dates- WBPSC has recently released the notification stating the schedule for conducting WBCS (EXE) Mains Examination 2020 and WBCS (EXE) Preliminary Examination 2021. According to the recent update, the new dates for the exams is also changeable as it still depends upon the Covid-19 and lockdown situation in the state. The tentative dates for WBCS exams are as follows:
  • WBCS Mains 2020- 19th and 26th December 2020
  • WBCS Prelims 2021- 7th February 2021
  • WBPSC Supervisor Result 2020- WBPSC has declared the result of the Prelims Exam for the post of Supervisor (Female). The shortlisted candidates are now eligible to sit for the Mains Exam which is to be conducted on 10th and 11th October 2020.

WBPSC 2020 Results

Due to the worsening pandemic situation, the normal operations of the PSC have been disrupted. Gradually, after months of lockdown, things are finding its way back towards normal. It is expected that WPBPSC might declare the results of the 2019 cycle WBCS Mains Exam in September 2020. The result of the WBCS Prelims Exam 2020 that was held on 9th February 2020 is expected to be released in the month of September or October.

The result of the WBCS exam 2020 will be declared on the official website of WBPSC. The result pdf will contain the roll numbers of the candidates. The ones who clear the WBCS Prelims Exam will be passed onto the next stage i.e. WBCS Mains Examination. The candidates who pass the Mains Exam will have to appear for the final round that is Interview/ Personality Test.

After the WBCS Mains or WBCS Prelims exam, the Commission releases the answer key for the exams that took place. This helps the students in assessing their performance in the examination and gaining an overview of how much they might have scored. The previous years’ question papers of the WBPSC Exam are also available in the given link. 

For calculating the marks obtained in the Prelims Exam, the candidate has to add 1 mark for every right answer and deduct marks for incorrect answers, as per the negative marking scheme. The candidates can check the WBCS Answer Key 2020 on the official website

Ques. How can I pay the application fees?

Ans. There are two ways to make payment- offline and online mode. You can make online payment using Credit/ Debit Card / Net Banking. On the other hand, to make Cash payments through UBI Bank, you can generate and print Challan.

Ques. What is the minimum age limit for WBCS Exam?

Ans. The lower age limit for appearing in WBCS exam is as follows:

  • Group A and C – 21 years
  • Group B – 20 years (For West Bengal Police Service only)
  • Group D – 21 years

Ques. Is there some relaxation for students belonging to the category of other backward classes (OBC)?

Ans. Yes, there is a difference in the cut-off for reserved categories. This will give relaxation in the qualifying marks for the reserved categories like OBC-A, OBC-B, SC, ST and PH.

Ques. Is the calculator allowed in the examinations?

Ans. No, the items like Calculator, Mobile phone, smart watches are strictly banned in the examination hall.
