TNUSRB (Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board) conducts the exams for various posts in Tamil Nadu State. The examination to fill up the police posts for sub-inspector (Taluk, Armed Reserved and Tamil Nadu Special Police) is also conducted by the same board. The applications from both, fresh candidates and departmental candidates are invited by TNUSRB every year. According to the current update, the exam for open quota aspirants and departmental aspirants will be conducted on 12 January and 13 January 2020 respectively.

Below are given the basic eligibility criteria that are required for the candidates in order to be eligible for the TNUSRB SI examination:

TNUSRB SI 2020- Age Criteria

The candidates those who are applying for the TNUSRB SI examination must follow the minimum age criteria in order to be eligible for the examination:

  1. The age of the candidates appearing for the examination must be between 20 to 28 years of age. The age of reckoning is July 1st, 2019.
  2. The candidates from BC (Backward Classes), MBC (Most backward classes) categories applying for the exam must have age up to 30 years.
  3. The age limit for the candidates from SC (Scheduled Castes) and ST (Scheduled Tribes) is up to 33 years of age.
  4. In order to be eligible for the exam, the candidates from ex-servicemen/ ex-personnel of central paramilitary forces must be up to 45 years of age.
  5. The upper age limit for the departmental candidates appearing for departmental quota examination is up to 45 years of age.

TNUSRB SI 2020- Educational Qualifications

The candidates those who are appearing for the TNUSRB SI examination must clear particular educational criteria as given below:

  1. The candidates appearing for the examination must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized government university in 10+2+3/4/5 pattern.
  2. The candidates who wish to appear for the exam must hold a degree in 10+3+2 pattern in case of diploma courses.
  3. Only those candidates are eligible to appear for the examination who have Tamil as a subject in X/XII/Degree.

TNUSRB SI 2020- Application Process

The application process of the examination begins in the same month in which the notification of the examination is released. Below are given some steps to be followed to apply for the TNUSRB exam:

  • First of all, Visit the official website of the examinations, i.e., www.tnusrbonline.org. Click on the application link and start filling the form for the stage one examination.
  • After that, Students are required to update their personal details like Name, Parents’ name, Date of birth, mobile number, email ID, Education board name and category in their application form.
  • Students will receive their registration number on their registered mobile number and email address along with the OTP once the registration process is complete.
  • After completing the Stage 1 details, students must login to their profile again and fill up the second stage of the form. Fill in all the details like gender, religion, educational qualification, and everything that is being asked.
  • Next, upload all the relevant documents required like photographs, signature, Category certificate, etc. Make sure all the documents are original and attested.
  • Select the language and examination center carefully.
  • Go to the payment page of the form after uploading all the details and documents and submit the application fees.
  • When the payment is confirmed, you will get a confirmation and a page displaying the application form.
  • Take a print out of your form and keep it safely for the future reference.

The admit card of the examination will be made available on the official website of the paper just before few weeks of the examination. Below are given some of the steps to download the admit card easily:

  • Visit the official website of the paper, i.e., www.tnusrbonline.org.
  • Search the link to download the admit card.
  • When you find the link, click on it and a new page will appear. Enter your login credentials there.
  • The admit card will be displayed on your screen. Select the save or download button and take the print out of your admit card.
  • In case of any mistake in your admit card, report it to the exam conducted authority.
  • Do not forget to bring a valid identity proof along with the admit card to the exam center- without this, you will not be allowed entry.

TNUSRB SI 2020- Exam Pattern

Students can get an idea of the pattern of the examination from the previous years’ question papers. However, the exam pattern is also released on the official website of the paper. Below is given the exam pattern for TNUSRB SI examination 2020:

For Open Candidates

Part A: Part A of the question paper will consist of the questions from General Knowledge. There are 80 questions of 40 marks in part A.

Part B: Part A of the question paper will consist of the questions from a larger syllabus. There are 60 questions of 30 marks in part B.

  • All the questions are of objective type in both the papers.
  • The total duration of the paper is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • There is no provision of negative marking.

TNUSRB SI 2020- Syllabus

The first stage of the examination consists of a written test. The syllabus of the written test for the examination is given below:

Part A General Knowledge
Part B Communication Skills, Logical Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Information Handling Ability, Psychology Test

Below is given the details syllabus of the paper:

Part A General Knowledge- For open and departmental Candidates General Science: To test the basic knowledge of Physics and Chemistry.
History of India: Question will come from the past events of the country.
Geography: Questions form geography of India will be asked
Economics and Commerce: The questions will test the knowledge of economics of the candidates.
Indian Polity: The questions will be asked from Indian Polity and the constitution of India.
Current Events: the questions will cover all the current national and international events.
Part B Psychology- For open and departmental Candidates Communication Skills, Logical Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Information Handling Ability, Psychology Test
Psychology- For departmental Candidates only PSO (Police Standing Order)- In this test, the provisions of PSO and their applications will be tested
Police Administration: This will test the knowledge of administrative rules and regulations
CrPC, IPC, Evidence Act: In this test, the basic knowledge of police station and the cases handled in the courts is tested

TNUSRB SI announces the number of vacancies for the various posts every year. The selection of the candidates is largely based on the cut off and the vacancy as announced by the commission. TNUSRB SI 2020- Selection Process

The selection process of the TNUSRB SI exam consists of several stages. Below are given the different stages to clear the TNUSRB SI examination for the year 2020.

  • STAGE 1: Written Exam

The first stage to clear the TNUSRB SI examination is the written test. The written test is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. All the information regarding the syllabus and the paper pattern has been given above.

  • STAGE 2: PMT/ PET/ EU Tests

The second stage to clear the TNUSRB SI Exam is the PMT/ PET/ EU Tests. Below are given the standards of different tests.

  • Special Marks

There is a provision of special marks. 5 marks are awarded for the NCC/ NSS and Sports certificates. Also, 5 marks are awarded for the medals won in National Police Duty Meet.
