Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), previously on April 30, 2020, released the notification to apply online for SEBI Grade A 2020. Considering the COVID-19 outbreak, the conducting body, for the third time, extended the last date of application. This time, the closing date of the Application process is July 31, 2020, as per the official notice.

SEBI Grade Assistant Manager 2020: Application Highlights

  • Application procedures are ongoing.
  • The last date of application is July 31, 2020.
  • The mode of application is online.

How to Apply for SEBI Grade A 2020?

For the candidates who have not applied yet or confused about the process for SEBI Grade A 2020 Application, here is a step-by-step instruction of how can you fill the application form of SEBI Grade A 2020:

Important Points to Note before Registration

Before you start the application Procedure and follow the steps, you should consider the below mentioned instructions first:

  • Scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both of them adhere to the required specifications as given under Guidelines for uploading of photograph & signature scan.
  • The left thumb impression should be properly scanned and not smudged. (If a candidate does not have a left thumb, he/she may use his/ her right thumb for applying.)
  • Scan the handwriting declaration ensuring that the document adheres to the required specifications as given under Guidelines for uploading of handwritten declaration.The text for the hand written declaration is as follows:

“I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

  • The above mentioned handwritten declaration has to be in the candidate’s handwriting and in English only. If it is written and uploaded by anybody else or in any other language, the application will be considered as invalid. (In the case of Visually Impaired candidates who cannot write may get the text of declaration typed and put their left hand thumb impression below the typed declaration and upload the document as per specifications.)
  • Have a valid personal email ID and mobile number, which should be active till the completion of the Recruitment Process. SEBI may send call letters for the Interview etc.,through the registered email ID. In case a candidate does not have a valid personal email ID, he/she should create his/her new email ID and mobile number before applying on-line. Under no circumstances, a candidate should share/mention e-mail ID to/ of any other person.

Step 1: Opening

  • Go to SEBI’s official website []
  • Open the link “Careers”.
  • Then open the Recruitment Notification entitled “SEBI RECRUITMENT EXERCISE -RECRUITMENT OF OFFICER GRADE A (ASSISTANT MANAGER) -2020
  • Click on the option "APPLY ONLINE" which will open a new window.

Step 2: Application Procedure of SEBI Grade A 2020

  • Enter Name, Contact details and Email-ID.
  • A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen.
  • Candidates should note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password.
  • An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent.
  • In case the candidate is unable to complete the application form in one go, he/ she can save the data already entered by choosing the "SAVE AND NEXT" tab. Prior to submission of the online application, candidates are advised to use the "SAVE AND NEXT" facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required.
  • Applicants are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/ entertained after clicking the “FINAL SUBMIT” BUTTON.
  • Your name and the name of your Father/ Husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets. Any change/alteration found later, may lead to disqualification of the candidature.
  • Validate your details and save your application by clicking the “VALIDATE YOUR DETAILS” and “SAVE & NEXT” button.
  • You can proceed to upload Photo, Signature, Left Thumb impression and handwriting declaration as per the specifications given in the Guidelines mentioned below.
  • Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the entire application form before “FINAL SUBMIT”.
  • Modify any details, if required, and click on “FINAL SUBMIT” only after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature uploaded and other information filled by you are correct.
  • Click on the “SUBMIT” button.
  • Click on “PAYMENT” Tab and proceed for payment.

Step 3: Procedure for Uploading Photograph and Signature

  • There will be separate links for uploading photographs, signature, left thumb impression and hand writing declaration.
  • Click on the respective link “Upload Photograph / signature / left thumb impression / hand writing declaration”.
  • Browse and Select the location where the Scanned Photograph / signature / left thumb impression / hand writing declaration file has been saved.Select the file by clicking on it
  • Click the ‘Open/Upload’ button.

Step 4: Application Fees of SEBI Grade A

  • Mode of paying the application fees is online. In other words, the charges of the application can only be paid through Online modes.
  • The payment can be made by using only Debit Cards (Rupay/ Visa/ Master Card/Maestro), Credit cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets
  • After submitting your payment information in the online application form, please wait for the intimation from the server. Do not press the “back” or “refresh” button in order to avoid double-charging.
  • On successful completion of the transaction, an e-Receipt will be generated. Candidates are required to take a printout of the e-receipt.
  • Application fees vary from candidate to candidates as per the categories:

  • Non-generation of 'E-Receipt' indicates PAYMENT FAILURE. On failure of payment, Candidates are advised to login again using their Provisional Registration Number and Password and repeat the process of payment.
  • To ensure the security of your data, please close the browser window once your transaction is completed

  • Candidates are required to take a print of online Application Form containing fee details. Please note that if the same cannot be generated, online transactions may not have been successful.
  • For Credit Card users: All charges are listed in Indian Rupee. If you use a non-Indian credit card, your bank will convert it to your local currency based on prevailing exchange rates.
  • The Application Fees already paid is not refundable and adjustable with other applicable fees.
  • Candidates applying for the second time or applying for another stream must pay the Application fee for the second time to complete the application procedure of SEBI Grade A.

SEBI Grade A 2020: Guidelines For Upload Of Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression and Handwriting Declaration:

In case the face in the photograph or signature is unclear, the application may be rejected. A candidate may edit the application and re-upload the photograph/ signature in such case. Candidates should also ensure that a photo and signature is uploaded at the respective places. If the upload is not properly done, the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

Guidelines for Photograph

  • The photograph must be a recent passport size colour picture (4.5cm × 3.5cm)
  • The picture should be taken against a light-coloured, preferably white background. Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
  • If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade, so that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows.
  • If you have to use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye".
  • If you wear glasses, make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen.
  • Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face.
  • Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).
  • Size of file should be between 20kb-50kb.
  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. If the size of the file is more than 50KB, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, number of colours etc., during the process of scanning.

Guidelines for Signature, Left Thumb Impression And Handwriting Declaration Image

  • The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
  • The applicant has to put his left thumb impression on a white paper with black or blue ink.
  • The declaration must be written in English clearly on a white paper with black ink.
  • The signature, left thumb impression and the handwritten declaration should be of the applicant and not by any other person.
  • The signature will be used to put on the Call Letter and wherever necessary.
  • If the Applicant’s signature on the attendance sheet or Call letter, signed at the time of the examination, does not match the signature uploaded, the applicant will be disqualified.
  • Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred)
  • Size of file should be between 10kb –20kb for signature and left thumb impression.
  • For handwriting declaration size of the file should be 20kb –50 kb. Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 20kb or 50 kb (for hand written declaration)
  • Signature / Handwriting declaration in CAPITAL LETTERS shall NOT be accepted.

Guidelines for Scanning The Documents

  • Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch)
  • Set Color to True Color
  • File Size as specified above.
  • Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature/ left thumb impression/hand written declaration, then use the upload editor to crop the image to the final size (as specified above).
  • The image file should be JPG or JPEG format. An example file name is: image01.jpg or image01.jpeg Image dimensions can be checked by listing the folder files or moving the mouse over the file image icon.
  • Candidates using MS Windows/MSOffice can easily obtain documents in .jpeg format not exceeding 50kb (photograph and handwriting declaration) & 20kb (signature and left thumb impression) by using MS Paint or MSOffice Picture Manager. Scanned documents in any format can be saved in .jpg format by using ‘Save As’ option in the File menu and size can be reduced below 50 kb (photograph and handwriting declaration) & 20 kb (signature and left thumb impression) by using crop and then resize option (Please see point (i) & (ii) above for the pixel size)in the ‘Image’ menu. Similar options are available in other photo editors also.
  • If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed.
  • While filling in the Online Application Form the candidate will be provided with a link to upload his/her photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwriting declaration

  • After uploading the Photograph/ signature/ left thumb impression/ handwritten declaration in the online application form candidates should check that the images are clear and have been uploaded correctly. In case any of the credentials are not prominently visible, the candidate may edit his/ her application and re-upload his/ her photograph or signature, prior to submitting the form.
  • After registration is completed online, candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online application forms.


Ques. Can I apply for more than 2 streams in SEBI Grade A 2020 Examination?

Ans. No, you may not apply for more than 2 streams. In case you apply for more than two streams, only the latest application will be considered and others shall be rejected.

Ques. How many attempts are allowed in SEBI Grade A Exam?

Ans. There is no such limit on the number of attempts for the SEBI Grade 'A' exam. You can appear for this exam till the time they are eligible according to the eligibility criteria. Check SEBI Grade A 2020 Eligibility Criteria, to ensure your eligibility for the exam.

Ques. Are the final year students eligible?

Ans. Yes, if you are in the final year of the eligible degree course you are eligible to appear in the exam. However, the offer to join SEBI to the selected candidates shall be subject to production of necessary documents evidencing successfully obtaining the requisite qualification.

Ques. I have completed a Master degree by distance learning, am I eligible?

Ans. Yes, you are eligible. Your degree shall be approved by a University. Distance learning/correspondence are also education qualifications equally valid for SEBI Grade A 2020.

Ques. I have done Integrated Dual Degree B.Tech and MBA, am I eligible for SEBI Grade A Exam?

Ans. Yes, you are eligible to apply for the SEBI Grade A Exam. B.Tech and MBA both separately are enough qualification for the SEBI Grade A exam.

Hi Lakshay. Scanned image of the candidate's signature on a white paper with a black ink pen. Dimensions must be 140 x 60 pixels and file size – 10 KB – 20 KB. How can I get the registration number and password if forgotten?

Hi Koyena. In case, you have forgotten the password or lost it, then you have to check on ‘Forgot Password’ link on the login page and enter details to get Password on their registered email ID. Details required include User ID/Registration Number.
