Yuyutsu's Mahabharata Identity
Yuyutsu is a significant character in the epic Mahabharata, known for his adherence to righteousness.
He was the son of Dhritarashtra, the blind king of Hastinapur, and a Vaishya woman, from his wife Gandhari's serving maid. This lineage technically classifies Yuyutsu as a Kaurav, as he shares the same father as Duryodhana and his brothers.
Despite being a Kaurav by birth, Yuyutsu possessed a righteous character. He disagreed with the unjust actions of his paternal half-brothers, the Kauravs, and famously defected to the side of the Pandavas before the start of the Kurukshetra War. He was the only Kaurav to survive the war.
Therefore, based on his paternal lineage, Yuyutsu is identified as a Kaurav.
