Who among the following was the only Dalit woman member of the Constituent Assembly of India ?
Dakshayani Velayudhan
The Constituent Assembly of India, which framed the Constitution between 1946 and 1949, had fifteen women members.
Dakshayani Velayudhan, from the Pulaya community of Cochin, was elected to the Assembly from Madras in 1946. She was the only Dalit woman among its members and was also the first Dalit woman graduate in India; she argued strongly against untouchability and separate electorates.
Hansa Mehta was a social reformer and educationist from Bombay, Sucheta Kriplani later became the first woman Chief Minister of an Indian State (Uttar Pradesh), and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, of the Kapurthala royal family, became India's first Health Minister. All three were Assembly members but none was a Dalit, so “None of the above” is also ruled out.
Dakshayani Velayudhan option is correct.
