Alkenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons containing at least one carbon-carbon double bond \(C=C\). Their general formula is \(C_nH_{2n}\), where \(n\) is the number of carbon atoms. Examples: ethene \(C_2H_4\) and propene \(C_3H_6\).
