RRB Technician 2026 Grade 3 Question Paper (7-Oct-2026) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

Presiding over joint sittings of Parliament

The Vice-President's constitutional roles are laid down mainly in Articles 64 and 65 of the Constitution.

Article 64: the Vice-President is the ex officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Article 65: the Vice-President acts as President when the office falls vacant (death, resignation, removal) and discharges the President's functions when the President is unable to do so due to absence, illness or any other cause.

A joint sitting of the two Houses is called by the President under Article 108, and under Article 118(4) it is presided over by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha; in the Speaker's absence the Deputy Speaker presides, and failing him the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

So the Vice-President, as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, has no role in presiding over a joint sitting.

Hence, the answer is Presiding over joint sittings of Parliament.
