The question asks what HTML stands for in the context of web page design. HTML is a foundational technology used for creating web pages and web applications.
Let's analyze each option to determine the correct answer:
- High Text Machine Language: This is incorrect. HTML is not a text machine language but a markup language.
- Hyper Text Machine Language: This is incorrect. While this option sounds similar, HTML is a markup language, not a machine language.
- High Text Markup Language: This is partially correct but not the standard term. The correct term involves "Hyper Text," highlighting its ability to link text across different web pages.
- Hyper Text Markup Language: This is correct. HTML stands for "Hyper Text Markup Language." It is used to create the structure of web pages by marking up text to define elements like headers, paragraphs, links, and other content.
The correct answer is Hyper Text Markup Language.
Explanation: HTML is termed "Hyper Text" because it allows for the embedding of links to other documents and content, creating a network or "web" of connected information. "Markup Language" refers to the tags and rules used to structure the document.
