Question

The optimal value of the LPP

Max : \(-4x + 5y\),

Subject to :

\(y \le x\) and \(x \le 4\)

This question was previously asked in
MH SET 2025 Paper 2 Sociology Question Paper (15-Jun-2025)
The correct answer is

is 4

\(y \le x \Rightarrow 5y \le 5x\)

\(Z = -4x + 5y \le -4x + 5x = x\)

\(x \le 4 \Rightarrow Z \le 4\)

At \(x = y = 4\) (feasible): \(Z = -16 + 20 = 4\), so the bound is attained.

Hence, is 4.
