The national motto of India, ‘Satyameva Jayate’, is taken from which Upanishad ?
Mundaka Upanishad
‘Satyameva Jayate’ means ‘Truth alone triumphs’. It is part of a mantra (3.1.6) of the Mundaka Upanishad, which belongs to the Atharvaveda.
The phrase was adopted as India's national motto along with the State Emblem on 26 January 1950 and is inscribed in Devanagari script below the lion capital of Sarnath in the emblem. Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya had earlier popularised it during the freedom struggle.
The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad gives the prayer ‘Asato ma sadgamaya’, the Chandogya Upanishad gives ‘Tat tvam asi’, and the Kena Upanishad discusses Brahman as the power behind the senses; none is the source of the motto. As the source is listed, 'None of the above' does not apply.
